Minsteracres Retreat Centre is a community-based, residential and day, retreat centre based in a Grade II listed house and extensive gardens, parkland and woodland, close to the A68 near Consett
We are a charitable company limited by guarantee with a Board of mixed lay and professed members with lay membership to be always in the majority. The charity has three charitable objectives, rooted in the Passionist charism, which are fulfilled mainly by the provision of the retreat at Minsteracres for people of all faiths and none, our outreach programme which allows people on the margins of Church and society such as asylum seekers, substance misusers, their carers and families to enjoy respite stays at Minsteracres and the conservation of the house and grounds.
We seek to offer a comfortable but simple and sustainable experience, with good food and hospitality, where visitors can step aside from their daily routine and spend time in a quiet space re-connecting with what is important in their lives.
We are looking for new lay Board members to help us in the strategic delivery of our objectives. Experience in any of HR, hospitality, volunteer management, fund raising, Outreach, youth mission, environment, built heritage, finance or law would be welcome.
We meet bi-monthly, in the winter months via Zoom and at other times at the Centre itself. Between meetings, the Board operates through a series of sub committees.
There is a resident community of mixed professed and lay members who help in delivering the retreat programme and the provision of hospitality and welcome.
We have a small staff which includes a retreat centre director, retreat administrator, catering manager and chef, marketing manager, housekeeper and assistant kitchen and housekeeping staff.
Volunteers help with many aspects of the delivery of our objectives be it in hospitality, outreach, administration or conservation.
More information can be gained from the centre’s web-site
