The Breath of God and the Fire of Our Mission

In a world where disconnection and uncertainty often prevail, the upcoming “Pilgrims of Hope” retreat at Minsteracres Retreat Centre offers a sanctuary for reflection and renewal. Scheduled from Friday, 11th July at 6:30 PM to Sunday, 13th July at 2:00 PM, this retreat is led by Fr. Joseph Mitchell CP, a Passionist priest renowned for his work in cosmology and spirituality.

Rediscovering Belonging in the Universe

Fr. Joe Mitchell brings a wealth of experience as the executive director of the Passionist Earth & Spirit Centre in Louisville, Kentucky. His teachings are deeply influenced by the visionary work of Thomas Berry CP, a fellow Passionist priest and cosmologist who emphasised the sacredness of the universe and our integral role within it.

During this retreat, participants will explore profound questions:

  • Who am I?

  • What is the nature of the world in which I live?

  • What is our role as humans in the unfolding life of this planet?

Through a blend of scientific insight and spiritual contemplation, attendees will delve into the 13.8-billion-year story of the universe, seeking to reconnect with the mystery, beauty, and responsibility of our existence.

Embracing the Jubilee Year Theme

Aligning with the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year theme of “Pilgrims of Hope,” the retreat focuses on re-establishing a harmonious relationship with God, one another, and all of creation. Fr. Joe will guide participants in understanding how this renewed sense of belonging can lead to a more meaningful and hopeful future.

A Weekend of Reflection and Renewal

Set in the serene countryside of Northumberland and County Durham, Minsteracres provides the perfect backdrop for this transformative experience. The retreat includes times of input, silence, prayer, and praise, offering a space to open oneself more fully to God and the gifts of the Spirit.

Whether you’re a seeker, meditator, activist, or someone feeling the weight of these times, this retreat offers a gentle and nourishing experience to reconnect with your faith and the natural world.
